Pros

My previous position has given me some great insight of Atrium. There is always a need to fill positions with Atrium and its hotels. Many hotels rely on temporary workers, which they pay much more for, instead of providing increases for their own employees. They offer 401k to part time employees. Compensation is good when you get into hotel management or corporate management. Contrary to many of the reviews, there is poor culture inside Atrium's corporate structure and it trickles down. They say they aren't trying to have gotcha moments, but we.. they.. really try to have gotcha moments "to improve"

Cons

1st, notice how the responses from Atrium are practically the same thing. That is about how much they seem to care about employees. My previous position has given me some great insight of Atrium. The negative reviews are true. This is a Revenue and Profit concerned company and most of their strategy is related to profit. They make a lot of money. Many of the Atrium hotels generate more than $4 MILLION in PROFIT a year. Each hotel has a different legal name and Atrium Hospitality is their independent management of their companies, also its own legal name. Atrium's culture is about money. Most everything they do with their culture is to create loyal underpaid employees by teasing them with promotions that never happen. These employees are mistakenly loyal and end up getting taken advantage of. Atrium promotes monthly parties, celebrations, activities and socials but at the least amount of cost available. Some of the employee break rooms are over 15 years old and haven't been remodeled. Some don't even have running water. Most everything in these rooms are cheap cheap cheap. When meals or activities are provided, cheapest option should be selected. Again, shows how they actually care about their employees. Many of the employees are low income, on welfare programs and don't think they have another option. It is my opinion that Atrium takes advantage of this. We were encouraged to take advantage of it. I know about situations where employees and managers were cheated out of incentives and bonus payments. Bonus plans were changed mid year. I could go on and on about this. Atrium does provide medical insurance. They are self insured. This means they take on some risk to save the company money. In theory, Atrium could make money on your medical premiums. They customize the plan based on their risk tolerance. If I remember correctly, medical plans had high deductibles and high out of pocket maximums. I think deductibles were around $8000 while out of pocket maximums were around $15,000. I could be wrong but it was a lot. What this means is you pay all bills up to $8000 with no insurance payments. Insurance starts paying after $8000 but only a percentage. Atrium does a poor job in educating their employees about how the coverage works. The employee pay portion is very high in addition to the poor benefits. There are a number of situations where employees or guests get hurt. This happens in hotels everywhere. However, the injuries were substantial. Atrium could have prevented those injuries by spending some money to fix the safety hazards. In some situations, even after the injury, the safety hazards weren't fixed. While managers and area managers wanted to get it fixed, the accounting department wouldn't approve the spend of money to fix it. If I were to work for Atrium again, it would be as a well paid temporary assignment. I would not recommend working for Atrium if you are deciding between multiple jobs. Only work for them if you are desperate. I want to touch on some of the other reviews about the 'good ol boys club' and the disparity between male and female employees. Both of these are true. I have 1st hand knowledge of this. I felt bad about those situations but I didn't have the ability to make any changes.

Pros

I was just thankful to have a job

Cons

But the management in the entire hotel had no idea what they were doing. Everyone is stuck up, stuck in their own ways and full of it. They are there to please themselves and maybe impress who ever they are interested in.
