Some good, mostly bad

Pros

• Free catered lunch daily • Generous salary • Weekly happy hours • Company sports leagues • CEO that really values company culture & giving back to the community

Cons

Sure, the free lunch is great, but after a while you'll be happy to trade that and the other perks to avoid the BS from the senior level management. While Audible is a great product and the "market leader" in audiobooks, it's struggling to find its way on the inside. Constant restructuring has teams from all verticals juggling various priorities, many times outside their areas of expertise. Intracompany politics are rampant with some high level execs playing favorites and blocking the career growth of junior staff. While they will sell you on all the personal growth opportunities upon your hire, you quickly realize that this is a farce and most promotions are in title only with no real increase in responsibility. There are some wonderful people that work here but there has been a huge amount of turnover over the past year and it appears that trend won't be ending anytime soon unless senior leadership gets back to basics and keeps the Amazon corporate culture of "burn & churn" away.

Good place to work for...

Pros

Complimentary audiobook account, stocks, nice customers, room for advancement for those that work hard and even easier for those that are favorites or use other "methods" to climb the ladder.

Cons

A lot of favoritism, parking, the outsourcing (bad idea), the shift bid method is ridiculous (again there is some favoritism). Most of the people are great, but there are a couple that will destroy your soul, so be very careful.

Leadership in Chaos - Avoid!!

Business Outlook

Pros

Free lunch, friendly people, reasonable hours (most of the time)

Cons

Most of your time will be spent as a pawn in the political infighting that takes place on a daily basis. Products take forever to launch, priorities change mid-sprint, secret projects happen all of the time, and there is generally a complete lack of transparency. Your role will change without any input from you whatsoever. Crony management prevents any upward career growth from happening.
