The company is in the hyper growth phase and would be a great company to work for if you are looking to develop your career while making a lasting impact on the organization

Audible Exceeds Expectations!

Pros

When joining Audible I had what would be considered realistic expectations for a tech company. If you aren't an engineer you're a second class citizen. I WAS WRONG! Audible blew my expectations out of the water. Very rewarding company to work for! Everyone, whether in your org or not, is willing to go above and beyond to help you out. Work hard/Play hard environment that allows you to develop as a professional. You feel like part of the team from day one. Laid back culture that allows for a great work/life balance.

Cons

Would love to see a location open closer to Manhattan.

Pros

Insane amount of perks from free lunch, really generous tuition reimbursement, to ping pong and massages in the office. Part of the Amazon family. The external perception of a good company. Generous compensation despite many people complaining about it (everyone always forgets about the stock). Some smart coworkers.

Cons

Senior management has no idea what they're doing. There's internal meltdowns happening all the time and meanwhile, they're spending millions on revitalizing the Newark community. Lots of top, smart, senior folks leaving by the droves. There's also a culture of entitlement that's pervasive throughout tech right now. So many people saying, "I can make more at X." Ok...so go there - that's what I did. It's not helped by management. Too much exception-making going on when people complain. This leads to the squeaky wheel getting the oil while the actual high performers who have their heads down doing work getting screwed and end up leaving. No sense of corporate identity. There's an obvious attempt to be different from Amazon but they can't figure out how aside from spending superfluously on things that employees take for granted or don't care about. The Amazon principles are used for the hiring and interviewing but reviews and promotions are based on a different set of nebulous criteria. Many of the negative reviews mentioned a sense of favoritism and this is why.
