Pros

Decent benefits, will get you in the door to claims because they hire with no experience, nice home office in Michigan

Cons

Unless you are a single male with no kids and a willingness to move anywhere, don't look to get promoted. Lower paying company for claims.

Don’t come here for a long career, but ok to gain experience

Pros

They have a very good Benefit package, stability and strong financial outlook, no lay offs. Nice people everywhere you go.

Cons

Senior management have cult-like, 7th grade mentality. They can’t make decisions independently for their respective divisions, but have to ask each other’s permission. This means that there is neither ownership nor accountability, and people who don’t have the appropriate depth of knowledge are making decisions based on wims 20 year old experiences, (they all started at the bottom and worked their way up) and outdated assumptions. Very clique-y- you are either in, or you’re not. Middle management are pawns and work horses and are largely order takers with now authority to empower their employees because of the micromanagement which starts at the top and is condoned and enforced all the way down. I would not recommend this company for a long term career, but more for a resume development step.

Pros

The company truly cares about the employees and their insureds, pleasant and friendly work environment, helpful coworkers, 37.5 hours per week, defined benefits pension plan, profit sharing and Christmas bonuses. Overall a very low stress almost Pleasantville type place to work.

Cons

You will be underpaid no matter what you do, low expectations leads to a culture of mediocrity and "Eh whatever." If you really care about your work you may find yourself saying "I can work my butt off and get a 4% raise or I can semi-loaf and get a 4% raise."
