Pros

I enjoy working with automobiles very much, and AutoZone does an excellent job of fostering a great place to work. The environment is clean, and management is excellent.

Cons

The pay could be a bit higher, but nothing too drastic is necessary. Minor employee-employee relations problems were sometimes apparent.

Pros

Discount on parts, reasonable about time off, generally friendly employees and managers, at least they're not open 24 hours a day.

Cons

No communication on store changes, no set schedule or even anything remotely close to that, expected to work for menial pay and perform tasks best left to a professional mechanic. Forced to sell extra product and punished for not doing so.

Pros

Some good District Managers. Truely helping customers and seeing their appreciation. Being recognized by your staff as a good manager. Good people that do not get the recognition or pay they deserve.

Cons

Regional Managers (RM) that micromanage and make District Managers (DM) nit pick at anything to criticize. Managers are required to work 50 hrs per week whereas everyone else works 40 hrs (Assistant Managers were salary and had to work 50 also, but when they were required by the government to make them hourly they all of the sudden became 40 hour employee). DMs and RMs are required to work 50 hrs per week also, but rarely do leaving early (between noon and 3pm on Fridays and around 4 or 5pm durring other weekdays) when managers are required to work 7:30 am - 6:30 pm. Some DMs are very good, but most DMs, RMs, and VPs have a feeling of entitlement and have totally forgotten that they started in the stores. The requirements of the job can easily burn the Store Managers out and cause them not to care any more. Store level employees have no way of mitigating the control of RMs and DMs over their career. In my case I was interesting in applying for a Loss Prevention position which was blocked by my RM because I ran a store so well that he wanted me to stay there. The company also needs to stop being a slave to the share holders and staff the stores with the propper amount of people to properly serve the customers.
