Rats from a ship!

Pros

Front line employees are great people trying to do the right things. Bright, motivated and personable. Business has a great business model and has found an under-served niche in the market. Could be GREAT!

Cons

Key employees are leaving in droves. Attrition is unsustainably high across most of the company. Management is BROKEN! From M1 positions through to the top, management is too busy fighting among themselves and looking for scapegoats to effectively manage the problems facing the company. And there are many problems that need to be fixed. With no PMO or coordinated vision from management the problems will only get worse.

Interesting work, great people

Pros

The people you work with make or break a job, and I've been lucky enough to work with great people here. Opportunities to grow professionally are significant, and the environment is more collaborative than competitive.

Cons

Ferry commute Seattle to Bainbridge Island is difficult when combined with long hours. If you are not from the Pacific Northwest, short daylight hours and consistent cloud cover can make the otherwise mild winters an unexpected challenge.

Pros

I've been with rocket ship success stories, the bad news bears, and the in between. The difference with Avalara is the commitment and the competence throughout.

Cons

Be ready, a driven organization that grabs hold of your interests.
