The company itself does an incredible job finding the right people for the right job. They are so focused on employee development and satisfaction. It is very rare for a company to invest so much in their employees. Everyone from corporate and upper management to the onsite leasing teams has an equal feeling with a common goal. Before working for the company, I was a resident at their properties and I can say from both ends that I couldn't be more pleased to be a part of a company with such strive to grow and constantly do better. Company events are always a blast and all the employees seem to share the same enthusiasm for the success of the company. It's exciting to be part of something so focused on making new advances towards bettering themselves, not only for the company's success, but for the employees, residents, and community benefit, as well. The opportunity to be part of the company from so many different locations, departments, and positions is a huge part of why I have decided to stick with Avalon. The growth of your own career and development within in the company is extremely encouraged and they are very willing to help in any way they can.

This is a company that truly cares about their Associates and I would recommend AvalonBay to everyone. You cannot truly appreciate how well AvalonBay treats their Associates unless you have been at company that treats their employees like a disposable commodity and works them to death. AvalonBay is aware of work-life balance issues and they try to work with Associates whenever possible. I have seen schedules shifted so one Associate can make all their kid’s soccer games on Mondays in the spring. They intern help cover for other Associates other times during the year. AvalonBay has realized that some flexibility in the schedule when possible can go a long way helping the work-life balance. AvalonBay is not perfect and there are issues here just like any other company. One of the key differences I have seen at AvalonBay is Management (starting at the top) is aware of the issues and is actively trying to fix them. They really do listen to the Associates and they take their feedback very seriously. This was evident when Executive Management conducted a series of town hall meetings across the company to meet with and talk open with Associates at all levels.
