      Pros

      It's a strong company. It's well structured with the clear directions on company policies.

      Cons

      Unfortunately company started to become more and more are a number driven company. Arch stone had 40% employee discount, AVB has only 20 %. On top of that they reduced the available free housing to 1 per property. No employees can afford to live in the communities, and when there is a snow storm they struggle running the business because no one can make it to work. That's why there was a housing available per 100 apartments. Whomever lived on the community would report to work at where they lived.

      If you're looking to surround yourself with great people who truly care about the work they do, AvalonBay is the place to go. Core values of Integrity, Caring, and Continuous Improvement are on display every day as they go about the work of enhancing the lives of our residents. The work the Redev Construction group does is among the most challenging work that you can do - inserting themselves into the homes and lives of residents - in order to upgrade their apartments and amenities WITHOUT moving them out of their apartments! It's incredible the level of conscientiousness that the multi-functional teams display in balancing the challenges of inconveniencing people in their own homes while still providing outstanding customer service and high-quality end results. Avalon works hard to show their appreciation for employees through consistency. Opportunities to learn, provide feedback, and grow within the company are available to anyone who truly wants them and is willing to say "yes" when the chance comes up. Truly a great place to work.

      Cons

      The nature of working in a heavily networked organization is that sometimes things are slow to change, particularly technology. Avalon is working diligently to improve in this area, but it's like turning an aircraft carrier, not a jetski.
