Pros

Their focus on diversity and inclusion is top notch. Movement (upward, lateral etc) is encouraged almost mandatory. Although I work remotely, I still feel a part of a team.

Cons

Pay could be better for the amount of work done, but there is a pretty decent incentive plan.

Pros

Excellent support from management. Solid communication between all levels of maintenance/office staff. Quality, in-depth training and onboarding. Great pay and benefits. Sign on Bonus. They truly practice what they preach!!!

Cons

As a Maintenance Technician III, there are times when residents will have unrealistic expectations with resolution times of repairs, or demanding new items simply because they want a champagne home but keep their beer budget rental costs. So navigating these situations can be a challenge to keep them happy, but still stay true to AvalonBay's core values and principles. If you aren't a people person this will be even more challenging.

Pros

Diverse workforce, great place to learn, and a lot of room and possibly for advancement. Often something new to do every day.

Cons

If you actually care about the integrity they like to blather on about, you will get beated down and looked over at every opportunity. If you can make the numbers look good by finding clever ways to skirt the law or policy you will get praised and promoted. You wont be paid enough to comfortably afford your own product. When you are on call you get paid for the call but are not compensated for having to put parts of your life on hold while you wait for one.
