The way they furloughed employees was wrong. Paid PTO to employees during furlough so if they tried to collect unemployment they would be denied for earning too high. If you could get unemployment Avera dragged their feet when unemployment placed a hold on the claim to verify weekly earning. We were also told that if we got called for a redeployment job during furlough & declined the job we would be PRN, our employment would terminate at the end of the month & we wouldn't be eligible for rehire. If you were on a leave for any other reason you wouldn't accrue PTO. This benefitted the company.
You can't get ahead. Avera likes to hire hairdressers, delivery people, credit card processors, auto mechanics etc for positions the person has no experience in or degree in the field meanwhile qualified long time employees get bypassed. There are production goals for everyone, yes even the doctors, that's why they're in such a hurry during appointments. Questions go unanswered, positions are created for people with a title attached & a raise but most employees are expected to do jobs not included in their job title. Going back to production, Avera gives the impression it's about patient care when it isn't, it's all about the cash flow.
