Pros

Excellent Physicians and Nurses Overall a safe place to work

Cons

Lack of respect for Physicians and Nurses by hospital administration. To many administrators, confusion regarding their individual duties. Administration asks for input, anything less than positive input ignored, or argued about, not ever addressed. Duties promised for new employees, often do not translate into the du.ties worked. Lack of transparency by administration, little input asked for by employees.

Pros

Compensation is good for this area. People are friendly and professional. Manager's are focused on making employees happy. Family friendly work environment. Plenty of overtime and extra pay opportunities.

Cons

PTO is confusing. Have 21 total days to begin, however 6 of those days are for holidays. Which actually only leaves 3 weeks. Job Description are not inline with actual work functions. Some positions hire under qualified people for there actual functions, which creates a revolving door.

Pros

The people are amazing and no matter what your position in the organization you can see how your work impacts the patients care. Overall, Avera works hard to be competitive compensation by doing ongoing market analysis per job. I think the work life balance is definitely promoted by all department managers and administration. I think the great thing about Avera is the on going 1 on 1 sessions that are mandatory once to twice per month. Management and administration takes pride in keeping the communication open with all its' employees.

Cons

No matter where you work there is always cons. I definitely think they could work on helping employees with their career goals and show them how and what opportunities they should take to fulfill those goals.
