I'm not mad, just disappointed

Pros

I enjoy my day to day only because of the company and solidarity from other coworkers as they also understand the type of company we work for and the unnecessary stress it produces. I've been able to develop some skills here and for that I'm grateful.

Cons

The company is definitely going through a lot of growing pains and in the process losing a lot good people. Not a lot of confidence on work stability, regardless of the position. A strong lack of transparency and communication in their departments, to their employees, and in result, their customers. Not a lot of opportunity to further a career, I was told otherwise but the reality is very different. Sadly many of my coworkers have been strung along for too long. If you're reading and considering a job at this company my only advice is to value your time and know your worth. Don't waste it doing something that's not providing genuine fulfillment besides getting a check every two weeks and don't waste your talents on a company that won't act on compensating you for such fairly.

Thank goodness that you are not mad but disappointed is not great either. :) We know for sure that Avetta is proud of you. Avetta appreciates you. Avetta thanks you. Avetta understands that growing pains are tough. When organizations evolve from being owner operated to investment backed, the entire paradigm can shift. We absolutely understand that the new demands change cultures, affect employees and transform organizations. HBR, WSJ, Consulting firms, and thousands of other publications write extensively about this exact transformation; no one formula leads to success. We also know that what got us here is not necessarily what will get us there. New leaders, new processes, new products, new platforms are all just pieces of a larger strategy that will guide our future. This holds true for our employees, as well. We are all being asked to take on new skills and new challenges together. It is great that you enjoy the day-to-day Avetta fun. The fact that you have developed skills and are grateful for them is the highest honor. You grabbed at an opportunity and that is all we can ask! #GreatAvettude

Getting There

Pros

Great Healthcare benefits. Free food and beverages in the breakroom. There are some great people who you know have the employees well being in mind. HR would definitely be in the pros section. It is always nice to know you have someone in HR who cares and is there to listen to you if need be. There are also some really good CO's that help to make the work atmosphere really positive. Which builds up a certain faith and loyalty one would feel when working for any business.

Cons

Of course, with every business there are going to be a few cons. One being the work environment due to some people who seem determined to instill their negativity onto others. It is possibly due to what seems like a revolving door of employees so I can understand where the mentality possibly stems from. There is an obvious separation as well among the different departments.

Thank you for your complementary review. We happen to agree that Avetta is evolving and perhaps growing up a bit! Nice shout out to HR but we would be remiss if we did not also highlight the exceptional members of our Customer Support, Accounting & Finance, Engineering, Sales, Product, and Marketing teams. We all rise together. Avetta just kicked off a little workplace mischief! With this, we are starting to mingle a bit more outside of our respective departments. Call us crazy but we happen to believe that laughing together and having fun with diverse team members may be a great recipe for our culture. The teen angst exists. With so much hard work and dedication poured into the organization combined with rising expectation there is a bit of fatigue. Not a single blind eye is turned towards the needs and wants of our employees. A cultural revolution has begun. To you, thank you for your time, your hard work, for showing up with a great outlook. You are valued, respected, cherished and deeply appreciated.

Honest Review

Pros

I actually learned a lot while I was working for PICS Auditing (now Avetta). There are skills that I picked up that have helped me in my current position. The thing is, I didn't learn these skills because I had a great teacher. I learned because it was a sink or swim environment. I was one the lucky ones that did not get laid off, but rather I left on my own accord.

Cons

I think it isn't fair call us bitter ex-employees when we leave a negative review. I am not a bitter employee and I left on great terms. I made friends and chalked my experience up to a learning one. I learned a lot about what I am capable of because I figured things out. I was actually quite impressed with my capabilities. The truth is the environment was really toxic when I was there. I understand the stress others are talking about because I experienced the same myself. I still have friends that work at Avetta and from what they say things have not gotten better. I am not saying that the entire company is bad. There are really great people there that will take the time to teach and mold you. However, this is not a company you will be able to retire from. You could possibly get promoted but a lot of that is short lived. I noticed the downfall when John Herr took over. I am sure there are reasons for the constant lay offs that are business related. I understand that there will always be difficult decisions that an executive team has to make. My personal experience was that environment is not a warm one and a lot of people were scared. I decided that I personally could not take living in fear longer so I decided to part ways. I wasn't around when the founders had control over the business, but from what I was told it is like night and day. In my opinion, I would not apply at Avetta.

Avetta has changed tremendously over the past two years. The organization went from a wildly successful, owner-operated business to a high growth investor owned organization. Any organization that goes through this sort of structural change will emerge as a different company; perhaps broader communication around this was needed real time and when the changes were taking place. The decisions made by the Executive team are painstaking. Running a high velocity growing SaaS business requires intelligence, speed, analysis and heart. Avetta is lucky to have a leadership team that is comprised of such a unique mix. To you, thank you for your review. Kudos for not choosing fear! We were grateful for all that you gave while here and we are stoked about your choice, for you, for what was best for you. With appreciation and respect.
