Pros

The work is fun, able to see things and customers that work at TV stations.

Cons

Recent down turn, and new management had changed the culture. Morale had gone south with recent cuts. It doesn't feel like it used to be... I smelled death in the air. People are not happy like used to be.... The culture had changed!!!

Pros

It was once a fun environment to create products in. We were the industry leader and innovator in the music world.

Cons

It has been slowly self-destructing over the last few years. If you watch online forums, there is a lot of customer dissatisfaction.

Pros

Pro Tools is the de facto industry standard DAW. The pride and personal satisfaction that I get from working on such an exciting product is something that I cannot find elsewhere in the high tech industry. My coworkers are smart, talented, and passionate. As a senior engineer I have had many opportunities to make meaningful contributions to the product. I can say without a doubt that I have grown the most as an engineer here at Digidesign/Avid more than at other stops in my career.

Cons

For years, executive management has not had a clear product vision, resulting in poor execution. Being profitable (at least in the audio division) allowed the company to get away with it, but now we are paying for past sins by suffering through layoffs and the offshoring of jobs. I am afraid that the new executive staff is trying to turn the company around by throwing hail mary passes instead of taking conservative, measured approaches. I believe that the current initiatives are short sighted and feeble attempts to jack up the stock price, instead of thoughtful and innovative plans to create long term value. The future looks bleak.
