      Intelligent colleagues; Nice office depending where you're based; Projects for defence can be interesting; Share scheme

      Cons

      There are a lot of clever people working here but a lot of egos. Sometimes you have to work with processes that are overly cumbersome, and you're battling with egos, particularly around promotion time. Government projects can be burdensome, especially in cases where you're inheriting code from legacy systems; this is further compounded by the fact you're asked to work with antiquated tools and techniques. It takes a certain type of person to thrive in a place like this, not only will you be thrown in the deep end, you'll have to swim against the tide. Bring armbands.
