Pros

- 9/80 work week - good technical & employee development training - supports continuing education - good & techncially knowledgable folks to work with

Cons

- significant career pigeon-holling - lack of promotion opportunities - limited meaningful management performance feedback - beware being caught in the witch-hunt blame game - incompetant program management - you're on your own when you run out of work - excessive non-value-added process baggage - new boss every couple years, good ones seem to burn out quicker than the bad

Pros

Not very many these days... the company is very tolerant of using Paid Time Off whenever you like.

Cons

Senior Management is somewhere between incompetent and unscrupulous. Organization is inflexible and generally not-competitive. Employee ranks are stuffed with middle-managers, usually going by the title "Project Engineer" or "Project Manager" who contribute very little, yet make a lot of money. The weight of middle management makes the company uncompetitive on a cost of work basis. Promotion is strictly by attrition and time of service, no amount of hard work or talent will move you up the chain faster.
