Executive FAIL - BLIND Ownership - FRUSTRATED Employees

Pros

the best parts about this company have all faded over the past 2 years. whats left to enjoy is the people working next to you who help keep you sane. there is also a variety of different types of work to do and you can learn a ton about how not to run a business.

Cons

the problems start at the top. the owners love YES MEN and therefore surround themselves with high paid executives that don't offer anything real to the company, but instead simply implement every whim the owners might have from day to day. This is what makes BDA inherently broken. Over the last 6-9 months the company recently went through at least 3 rounds of lay-offs that gutted the talent-pool from the company, leaving it a hollow shell of confusion and frustration. The lay-offs were a result of repeated poor executive management decisions, despite warnings from employees and some former executives (since owners like YES MEN, alternative views don't last long)... and not a single executive has been replaced. instead they decided to lay-off the people who gave years of loyal, hard work. The reviews that discuss the "boys club" mentality are referring to this type of leadership. if you decent, you are let go. if you work hard, you will get no recognition. if you think your job is safe, you are delusional. Rumors continue to circulate throughout the company about financial issues and more down-sizing and the response is to simply deny any and all of these rumors. There were times when we watched as the owners joked about them in official company meetings, as if these rumors of potential unemployment is a joking matter. The people running BDA think that company morale can be bought with beers and hot dogs. They are completely out of touch and surrounded by people who tell them they are right about everything that has nearly destroyed what was once a great company.

Pros

Only the hard working associates at the Director level and under.

Cons

The "Owners" constantly promote the "TIGGER" spirit. First of all that is a total joke. But then again if you consider "TIGGER" as an acronym then it makes sense. The "Owners" and the other execs do embody the TIGGER attitude as what it really means is: T = Totally I = Involved in G = Growing G = Greed while E = Evading R = Responsibility Yea Boy - Keep up the TIGGER spirit and see how many more employees you can use up and toss aside!

Pros

Spent time learning and growing with a smart team and terrific manager. Got to work on potentially cool projects. Built relationships with great people. That's about it.

Cons

The group of execs make the worst decisions and are in denial about it. Failed investments, poor directions and unreasonable deadlines have caused them to layoff tons of people in the past few months. They have no concern for the growth and well-being of their employees and all they want to do is use you up until they've sucked everything out of you. No matter how long you've been with the company and no matter how much you've sacrificed for it, they could let you go because of someone else's mistakes. Designers are rushed to design products but once it is handed off, the next person decides to sit on the idea for a year, delaying the process. I've seen many well-designed products get to the point where they are ready to go on shelves, however they end up no where. At least put something up on the online store! Well, we know that's not going to happen now because they laid off everyone who would be able to do that. We also know that you'll never give your employees decent benefits either.
