Pros

The firm has great technology; wide range of clients (which is a pro and con as staff have no input on which industry/client they prefer to work in).

Cons

Work/life balance not appropriate for mid-tier firm; pay not comparable to Big 4, but hours are nearly the same as Big 4 (2100 billable annually); management denies all morale problems and is ignorant regarding market conditions at other firms; new hires can't get the experience they need because managers are too busy and cannot teach them anything. If you desire career over work/life balance, go to Big 4; if you desire work/life balance over career, then go to a smaller firm.

Pros

Its airconditioned in the summer (though too much sometimes), and heated in the winter.

Cons

The upper management is paranoid and because of that micromanages every aspect of clients. Advice is given more to confuse and mistakes are held over everyone but the partner's heads. Managers and staff are not treated as adults, nor are they given leeway to try other management techniques. How upper management acts and what it says it wants to do are diametrically opposed to each other. They say they want a work life fit, but want everyone working 12-14 hours a day. What the partners charge the clients are far too small in relation to some of the work that needs to be done, and when budgets are consistently blown, it is not the partner's fault for not charging appropriately, but the staff's fault for not being more efficient, even when the staff was working on the client for 30 hours strait.

Pros

The sky's the limit if you're willing to put in the work and produce clients. Success is recognized and awarded. But little tolerance for learning curves.

Cons

Clients stink. Some partners stink. Treat BDO as second class citizens in comparison to Big 4. No respect. Partners too greedy, penny wise and pound foolish. Do not take care of best employees, only favorite employees. Short term thinkers. ZERO planning and vision for future. Pay for upper levels is a joke in comparison to all the required hours.
