Pros

The culture really strives to serve members and put others before yourself. There are a lot of community benefit events to participate in. The amenities offered at the headquarters, such as the gym were nice.

Cons

- It really depends what department you're interning in. My team happened to be disorganized and unprepared in regards to me coming in. My intern manager and the director seemed disinterested in me and never interacted with me much so I had to rely on other team members to help me find work. There were times where I'd offer to help on tasks or try to find meaningful work but my emails/messages were frequently ignored, yet I was told at the end that I didn't try hard enough to find new work. My one-on-ones were also cancelled after the first one after it was concluded that "I seemed like I was doing fine". My work environment eventually turned passive aggressive because my team started ignoring me and not acknowledging my presence in certain situations so I never felt welcomed and I was told I never tried to engage with them. In one instance after a meeting I was not prepped for, one employee said out loud "Some people need to talk more at these meetings" as a snarky remark directed towards me and my team just laughed. I was also left out of team meetings often. - My biggest issue was the evaluations. You are rated on a scale from 1-5. According to my intern manager, they rarely give out anything above a 3. That's a unrealistic expectations of INTERNS especially for those who have never had a corporate job. - The minimal presence in POC is seen not only on leadership but also within the intern class.

Pros

The leaders at BECU focus on their teams development and are very supportive. I came here for good work life balance and benefits and the people I have gotten to work with are a huge bonus to those items. I have been very happy with my work life balance across different positions in this company and think our benefits are amazing. The company culture has been consistent across different teams I've met with a very high emphasis on bringing your authentic self to work which I really appreciate because all our individual uniqueness make our teams stronger and more creative.

Cons

I have not found any downsides. I am so happy being here and plan to stay for a very long time.
