Pros

Amazing benefits with mostly great coworkers. BECU does a lot for the community.

Cons

Poor work/life balance, poor management. Generous PTO, but you aren’t allowed to take it when you want unless you are a senior employee. Long hours with unreliable scheduling. Managers only look out for themselves. If you work at a busy location you will have to work more Saturdays than someone in the same position at a slower branch. Unrealistic sales goals that are more strictly enforced than told during interviews. You will be fired if you don’t meet them. Much of the back office staff can be extremely rude and condescending to frontline staff for asking questions they simply wouldn’t know the answer to.

We appreciate your comments and service to BECU. As a credit union, we are committed to the professional growth and well-being of our employees, and providing them with the education, tools and resources needed to thrive and create remarkable member experiences. This includes ongoing employee education and BECU’s New Employee Orientation (NEO), where new hires spend one day focusing on the organization, BECU’s culture, high level organizational expectations of employees and how the credit union continues to provide service to members. The ultimate goal is to ensure we’re setting our employees up for success during the onboarding process. We thank you for your feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve and have shared your insights with our leadership.

Thank you for your feedback and tenure at BECU. We truly value your thoughts and are appreciative of everything you’ve done and are continuing to do to put our members first. We believe that leveraging our differences is critical to our success in delivering quality service to our members and communities. While our diversity metrics are in line with or better than suggested benchmarks overall, we are continually looking at how we can create more opportunities to reflect diversity at every level of the organization. We also believe that our employees are our greatest asset and are committed to cultivating an environment where they feel heard and are given opportunities to grow professionally within the credit union. We are sorry this has not been your experience and encourage you to connect with your director so we can better support you on your career journey.
