      Great care givers, but forget personal time.

      Pros

      Very passionate people, some great executives. Very patient centric environment. The team is very driven to make the hospital a great place for care.

      Cons

      Struggle with the idea of personal time. High expectations anchored with seemingly misguided metrics. Poor conflict skills, which leads to a lot of back door conversations. Have a tough time getting past the daily issues to build something below the surface.

      Pros

      BJC is willing to take a chance on qualified yet inexperienced individuals and therefore provides a good starting place to someone early in their career. It is a large company, so there are typically advancement opportunities in the form of other jobs within other areas of BJC.

      Cons

      The pay becomes relatively low as experienced is gained. In-position raises are rare. Merit raises are negligible and insufficient to cover inflation. Most times, the only way to increase your salary and stay with BJC is to transfer to a different job. It may be difficult for individuals without nursing or pharmacy degrees to advance their careers in a corporate position even though they are otherwise qualified and even though the position is not directly clinical. (IT/IS & financial tracts may be an exception.)
