      Pros

      The staff are friendly. When you are in the "it" crowd, everything is good. Administrative staff are not looking over your shoulder constantly.

      Cons

      When you fall out of favor, things are made bad enough that you want to quit. Face to face communication with administrative members occur only when initiated by you. No one asks how things are going. Or what needs to change. Admin prefers to send memos than to talk directly with employees. Undervalued and under-appreciated.

      Pros

      Variety of projects, good mix of ad hoc reports to routine reporting, learn new software, exposure to various levels of management, functions and employees, good benefits including tuition reimbursement, dynamic industry in general.

      Cons

      Slow to hire and fire employees leads to frustration in department, physical environment/location of department is worst on campus.

      Pros

      Flexible work environment where (if you have such a job) you can work from home some days during the week. The company accommodates schedules well.

      Cons

      The company is mired in red tape on the Information Services side of business and to get even the simplest of tasks completed seem almost insurmountable. Middle management, for the most part, is ineffective and a cause for the low moral. The philosophy at this organization is that management personnel does NOT necessarily need to know anything about I.T. in order to "lead" the various groups within Information Services. I, along with others, find this vexing.
