Pros

Flexible work hours. Decent benefits. Pay is ok, but won't be for long. As a software developer, it is great to be creating what the company actually sells. Freedom to see your ideas go from design to development.

Cons

Death march development projects can be stressful and depressing. Fear of layoffs is constant and no guarantees that a coworker that quits or retires will be replaced, resulting in more work for you. CEO compensation (greed) makes you sick. No feeling of loyalty anymore.

Pros

The best reason to work at BMC is the autonomy and flexibility allowed by management. Direct leadership is competent and working to make positive change. The people at BMC are smart and dedicated to seeing the company succeed. There is some resistance to change but overall it is a good place to work.

Cons

Inability to change on a large scale. Feels like working for the government at some level. The pace of change at BMC can be very slow, because people are not given the authority to drive change. Everyone needs to be informed and approve of everything. The end result is a watered down version of positive change.

Pros

Great teamwork, the office environment is great. All the technical staff are very competent and have a deep knowledge of all technologies, and middle management are generally well trained. It's also a company that gives you the chance to learn a lot. BMC has is a great "school" if you are a young person, and has potential to grow. As BMC works with all the major companies, it let you work with almost all kind of enterprise customers, witch is very good for your personal career.

Cons

For the past few years now, bmc has done some wrong movements looking only on how much it would be saving, instead of how much it would grow. This is wrong, because looking only on how much you would save will probably make you loose a lot of good opportunities on the market because you were not willing to invest. Because of this "saving policy" BMC lost a lot of good people, and exchanged a lot of seniors guys for jrs., and now some times BMC sofer to deal with problems that on the past, were simple to solve. BMC does not treat all their offices equally. In general, the us office has an advantage from the rest.
