      Can't Wait to Leave

      Pros

      Decent enough technology (although still v dependent on mainframe revenues). CEO knows what he is doing (although his part in the BladeLogic fiasco will stain his reputation).

      Cons

      Have been at BMC 5 years, first 4 some of the best years of my career. In those years great team spirit, good management and a culture that encouraged innoivatgion and success very well rewarded. The BladeLogic acquisition and the reverse take over of the sales team has however killed everything that used to be good about BMC. Be clear - these people do not know how to manage customers, staff or sales cycles. They are cowboys of the worst type who will screw anybody over in their pursuit of a dollar.

      The beginning of the end

      Pros

      Was once a place to be proud of, with a great leader. Now comprised of used car salesman mentality leadership from little start-up BladeLogic. Fired or removed all managers and sales reps who understand complex customer relationship sales in favor of "buddies" from aggressive point sales backgrounds.

      Cons

      Benefits and pay continue to decline while the management style is now one of fear. Not a good way to retain top employees, which is why they're all leaving and going to CA and HP (who are actually experiencing sales growth). Don't let the skewed Wallstreet numbers fool you. The mainframe business continues to shield the company from the real numbers.

      Pros

      Great work life balance. Managers are generally respectful of your personal time and treat you like a professional. Expect to have to learn a lot of new products all the time without being micromanaged. Sales people arepretty good but expect to have to manage them a lot because they are very pushy.

      Cons

      Don't know yet. Pay and commission is on the industry low side.
