Pros

Great place for technical knowledge in banking skills and understanding production of the organization. Excellent MBA program offered. The pursuit of education is welcomed and nutured. Results oriented environment. Job stability in comparison to some other major FI's. Good benefit package, vacation and other benefits.

Cons

Lack of developping talent through coaching and mentoring skills. Must live or commute to Toronto for further opportunities. A culture that spoon feeds its employees instead of cultivating their knowledge and expertise and helping them fix issues themselves. Culture also engrained in its old fashioned ways. New hires find it difficult to immerse in an environment where little help is provided and little time associated with training.

Pros

the stability is a good thing. Once you are full time it is pretty secure. Movement within the company is generally encouraged (most managers) Upgrading through courses is encouraged.

Cons

the pay is lower than other comanies and things vary greatly from area to area. So many policies are vague and left to "managers discretion" So one area has a vastly different culture and flexibility and expense accout compared to another area.

Pros

Strong work-life balance ethic. Strojng career and education support.

Cons

Overlapping departments. No strong leadership. High bureaucracy. A lot of PowerPoint slides but not much delivered. or example, months are spent creating PowerPoints and signoff documents when the entiure system could be built in days. Auite incrdible to experience. The experienced developers do not get to do their best work to deliver true value as they are bogged down in process control. Funny how with so much process control still had a $500 million dollar exposure.
