      Pros

      There are really good people at the organization. People tend to be "lifers" and you see a lot of members of the same family who work at the organization. They have an amazing learning centre - the IFL - and are very committed to life long learning. Their technology is improving and they are dedicated to bringing the right people on board. They are primarily in North America, so the travel isn't going to be lots - this can be a bonus if you are not interested in travel. The size makes movement within the company possible. Good strong leadership.

      Cons

      Salary! They are not competitive. They give more work/life balance instead.

      Pros

      The fact that BMO has been around for 100 plus years is an indication of its stability. Although there are limited opportunities to advance, there are plenty of opportunities to move laterally and gain some different experiences. I believe that at the core the culture is one that is supportive of a work life balance, however not all managers practice that culture.

      Cons

      for a younger person, when you reach a certain position you need to wait for someone to die before you have a chance to move up the food chain. Recent changes to dissincent people from retiring early is yet another example of how BMO HR takes the punitive approach.
