Pros

many locations, many different types of roles within the organization, good HR policies for work/life balance, senior management has recently made more realistic organizational goal, BMO is well positioned to move up in rank. foundation has been set in last couple years with focus on customers, which employees strongly embrace, and customers are taking note.

Cons

processes and standards dictate everything with little to no flexibility, incredible change pace over recent years, on edge about having a job... while many different types of roles exist at BMO, and one could have a career with varied roles, the organization is frequently subject to freezes, which does affect advancement

Pros

The best reason for working for BMO Financial group is meeting the people. Almost everyone is friendly and easy to get along with. There are many social activities and if you enjoy getting involved it is a great experience.

Cons

The managers care nothing about you in some areas. The technology is so behind compared to other financial groups that its always "sorry we can't do that like they can..." etc. The starting pay seems to be quite a bit lower than other financial institutes.

Pros

The Benefits package is certainly worth working for if you are a permanent employee, though as a consultant/contractor (one of many!) I did not receive this. The pay was fair in regards to the level of experience which I had at the time. As well, the emphasis on and support for professional development at higher levels is quite good, though this was only uncovered by fluke in my position.

Cons

The corporate culture is fairly bleak, as most people don't seem to take any pride or joy in their work. This is translated into a negative work environment, and can make working rather unpleasant. As well, there is a disconnect between senior managers and middle managers, whereby middle managers are able to get away with exploitation of those under them by virtue of SMs not being involved in or aware of the work of MMs.
