Pros

Company is loyal to employees, to a fault. BMO offers a great benefits package, including pension, 401k (100% vested immediately, including employer match), paid time off, and insurances.

Cons

Leadership. It is evident that this bank was very recently a small local bank that has emerged as one of the top 12 largest banks in NA through acquisitions. The leadership a many levels appears to be overmatched for the current needs of the bank. Decision makers do not appear aware of all the regulatory requirements, or when they are aware, the processes implemented are antiquated. There is a great deal of resistance to change, and sadly managers use extraordinarily weak rational for not making changes. more sadly, the higher levels of management accept these reasons and prevent progress.

Pros

Good local management allowing for personal growth

Cons

Upper management doesnt seem to understand the effect of commission structure. More gaming the system than growing the bank.

Pros

This company has a 401K (5% match) and a pension with a sliding scale (3% to 8%) based on you age and years worked--I started at M&I Corp which was purchased by BMO....which was/is better ? It is a toss-up. Lateral moves are easy and common. Nice vacation and sick time policy, pay is on par with banks of the same size I would say.

Cons

Difficult to move up in the company if management wants you somewhere else. Certain areas or departments are tightcast and once in those departments, you can only move laterally. Raises are almost non-existent, bonus or STIP's Short Term Incentive Funds, are given, but your base pay stays the same.
