      medical dental are good for the job

      The pay used to be great for the inconvenience of you never being at home. Now the pay sucks. I end up with about 250 hours a month that doesn't include time inside the hotel which you don't get paid until you have 16 hours on duty. New CEO is basically run the company into the ground whoever comes in after her and wants to clean up the company is going to be spending lots of money shoddy track maintenance shoddy locomotive repair morale at an all-time low. It seems a new motto is not on preventive maintenance but on don't fix it till it breaks down completely and that's what's starting to happen.

      Pros

      Benefits, retirement (if you can endure 30 years). If all you want to do is work, this is your place. Bank some money for a couple of years and quit.

      Cons

      You’ll give this company 400-500 hours a month of your life. Your life will be taking naps in hopes that you’ll be rested when that 24/7/365 call comes in. You’ll be able to take two weekdays off a month without getting in trouble for availability. If you can work three full time jobs at $22 per hour you’ll make as much money as you can here and you’ll at least have a schedule. They need machines not humans to work here. Management in Ft Worth is beyond disconnected from the work force. There’s no future in railroading. Automation will take over. They’re trying to cut all jobs. You will not retire from here.
