Pros

Work expereince looks good on paper. Compensation is reasonable.

Cons

There are a lot of Ego's within this company. Our business model is extremely bias and most leaders (middle to upper management) with practice unethically to inflate numbers. Work/Life balance is non-existent. There is no such thing as a 3 on, off schedule. In addition to your shift rotation you must participate in a train ride, test teams, staff meetings and "special projects" you will work a minimum of 75 - 90 hours a week. Union employees are difficult to satisfy. Although I have met some very great individuals, most of them always feel we owe them more then a pay check (i.e jackets, food, hats, gift cards, etc.) A word to the union folks - most managers make less money then you, have worse health benefits, work ALOT more hours and have zero protection. I understand we all chose our roles, but be sure you have the facts before you start a conversation

Pros

Niche industry, job stability if you can perform well. The compensation while not the best is acceptable. Its a good starting point to build a career.

Cons

Entrenched middle management makes it very hard for entry level supervisors to get comfortable in their roles. Fact that most managers are currently dues paying members and have the craft to fall back if they get fired means the level of accountability is very low and not consistent.
