High turnover for a reason

Pros

Good job security, decent benefits and the cafeteria is very hand for lunch and breakfast. not a whole lot more than that.

Cons

It doesn't matter how hard you work or how good you are at your job they know they have issues retaining talent and have done nothing to improve this situation. There is a corporate atmosphere of defensiveness as well as lots of finger pointing. The company never recovered from the merger of BNY and Mellon.

Pros

I met some really nice people working there - the clients in particular are great. Benefits were competitive. I had plenty of resources to help me do my job up until just after the merger in 07, when things started to head south.

Cons

Bad attitudes are rewarded, so long as the person is bringing in revenue. There also seems to be mass layoffs right before the end of the year, every year. I experienced some sexism/harassment issues. Good ideas/intentions often got held up in bureaucracy red tape.

Don't bother with this company

Pros

Nice people, good work life balance at times. Onsite medical facility.

Cons

This company has meetings among meetings going on and on about retaining talent, mean while they just did a major lay off on their top performers. They said it was due to budget cuts but its crazy to me how they kept people who don't know their behind from their heads. They kept people with low performance who are lazy and insufficient. They did the opposite of what they have been preaching each month on these 90 minute boring meetings. I would want to keep top talent if I'm competing with other banks. Horrible leadership and gudieness. I'm looking to leave as this place is failing in many areas.
