great place to start finance career

Pros

Get to work everyday with extremely smart and motivated colleagues. Fast paced work environment. Great place to learn the fundamentals of PE due diligence and investing. Nice offices with good perks (cafeteria, gym, etc.).

Cons

Lots of hierarchy (think meetings for meetings). Challenging work / life balance, but no more so than other finance jobs. Career path is up / out like all professional service firms with its inherent pros & cons.

Pros

Work here if you want culture shock about what wealthy white boys do right after they graduate from college. Or if you want to see what connected females who are rising though the ranks after advantageous marriages do. Don't forget your cravats and hoop skirts.

Cons

Where to even start? Bad juju. Certain groups venture, real estate, PE are treated like royalty while others are lesser humans. Go work here if you want to be monitored like your in North Korea. Lots of Mormons still thriving -but they want to sweep their prior ownership by Mitt under the rug even though many are all still at the top of the chain. If your approaching middle age you'll be mostly invisible until the time comes for you to go.
