Your first case can make or break your career. As much as you would like to think the cream will rise to the top, real life dictates that your actual case experience is a large driver as well.

Horrible work life balance. Expectation is that work will subsume your waking life. Work experience heavily determined by what case you are on - sometimes can be a bit of luck of the draw on what you get staffed on early.
