Pros

Location is the only pro for this one

Cons

OMG - what a horrible place! Employees are treated very poorly. Nepotism is not even downplayed. They hire relatives for high-paying jobs even with no degrees and no experience, while the talented qualified individuals are paid what they make in fast food industry - or Walmart. I think my sister, who is a manager at Walmart, makes more than one of the associate deans there. Very overworked - unrealistic expectations - 65++ hours - cannot take your vacation time - cannot roll over so you lose it Dress code is ridiculous and they even grade your voice mail every week Doing disservice to students - diploma mill - anyone who pays will pass their classes Seriously micromanaged and treated like dirt

Pros

Over the many years I worked at Baker I was blessed to have the opportunity to work with many outstanding, caring, hardworking, professionals.

Cons

The system is more of a real estate business than a college. They invest more in the properties they own and acquire than the employees that they "value". These reviews are spot on, and the college system is suffering from it's own cultural illness. The pay is substantially less than any other college in Michigan, yet the tuition is one of the highest. Unfortunately "right to try includes many students who are set up to fail, the are not in any way college material, and despite their best efforts will not be able to achieve gainful employment to pay off those college loans.

Pros

I can't think of any other than the relationships with coworkers...management continuously works to decrease the camaraderie that exists...people are told that they cannot laugh or talk to each other unless it's about work.

Cons

Deans are puppets of upper management. Program directors are powerless to run their programs. Students run the show...retention is key. Student complaints have unfairly cost many their jobs. Staff not appreciated...treated as easily replaceable. Many departments poorly staffed. Lots of mandatory overtime. Flex time is only for deans and higher...The rest just have to grin and bear it.
