Pros

Excellent benefits and really good pto, paid holidays, 3 months paid time off for maternity leave. You learn a lot about some pretty incredible programs that turn ppls lives around. You feel like you are providing an incredible resource to some pretty undeserved populations.

Cons

THe philosophy that Baker is always the best option for the student, makes it hard to really do right by the student. While you are ultimately trying to serve the student, while making budget... at the end of the day, budget, and making goal is more important than the student. You have to understand that at this job you are more of a sales person guised as an advisor--but you learn a lot. Be prepared to feel like it's 1972... you will be wearing matching suits, and nylons if you are a lady.... You will have to work 12 hour days during busy seasons too.

Pros

I can think of no positive things to say about Baker College except for the respect I had for two of my co-workers. Great people and real team players. They are still there and I know they face some challenging days every week of the year.

Cons

I read the reviews already here and they all describe exactly the environment at Baker College. Especially the low pay, no career development opportunities, appalling treatment of employees, and rampant nepotism that hinders any chance for advancement.

Pros

Coworkers that's about it. Not much else is worthwhile. There used to be more events to promote employee morale but that has all gone away with no sign of it coming back.

Cons

No promotions, salary less than other institutions, most VPs are arrogant overpaid and are simply yes men/women. Most leadership positions are held by "lifers" who are stuck in their ways.
