Pros
A chance to work on cutting edge technology. Working on amazing spacecraft and major telescope technology. Being able to watch the new or science channels and know that you were a part of the new discoveries or that the spacecraft you helped build is saving lives.
Cons
Small environment so it is tough to work with multiple technical areas. Not a constant and clear path that all configuration managers must follow
