It really depends on the Dr. you work for cause even though you have other management such as an Office Manager and a Director of Pet Nursing, the Dr. wants "their" hospital run a certain way. The Dr. I work for rude and wants me to go and present an estimate before the dog is even seen by the doctor. Banfield has a nice idea where it is a chain, so if one hospital is low on nurses or even supplies, you should be able to call another one and say, "Hey I need help." However the hospitals are ALWAYS short staffed and consistently run out of products. So if you want to work your ass off as a vet tech to get the experience, go for it (such as me)BUT if you have experience find another place. I am already worn out after 3 months of working here. I am making 11.15 with a bachelors....bad economy!!!

Low standards in hiring practice mean you'll be picking up the slack and correcting the mistake of your sub-par co-workers. Pet Nurse managers are often too busy doing dentals and helping in surgery to provide any oversight of new hires. This results in the "blind leading the blind" to an extent. Banfield is also the McDonald's of veterinary clinics, so much that I often wanted to ask my customers if they wanted fries with their pet's vaccines. This isn't so bad if you want the speed and efficiency of a drive-through with your veterinary care. However, in my experience, most clients prefer quality time when their pet's health is on the line. Its hard to give this sort of attention when you're under-staffed with inexperienced PetNurses and are being pressured to rush through a long line of customers and upsell, upsell, upsell. Also, there was a number of people while I was working there that were fired for stealing drugs from the poorly supervised pharmacy.
