Pros

Not much of anything to say here. Perhaps mediocre benefits.

Cons

Future is limited due to culture and lack of organic growth.

Pros

- Wellness Program, Gym & Cafe

Cons

-Company lays off over 200 people but then they decides to celebrate their 10 year anniversary with champagne & cake for everyone! Celebrating with events (BBQ's) and posting pictures on social media while people were getting laid-off. - They locked down & controlled the AC to hundreds of employees (in the corporate offices) to save money, many co-workers were uncomfortable & sweating all over. - Leadership/Executives make fun of those who have a "Latin accent" and overlook their skills, years of experience and education. - Co-workers that weren't selected to be apart of the BankUnited 2.0 project are spending months without no work, wasting talent and skills. - Everywhere you go (i.e. gym's locker room, cafe) practically every employee is talking about how unhappy they are working for BankUnited. Morale is low. - They hire talent from the outside instead of promoting talented employees who have been there for years. - They post jobs after they hire and bypass the bank's policy to hire someone from the outside. They think people don't notice but people speak and news gets around. - Lack of communication between departments- Turn over is high, many people have left worrying about their job (including me). - Poor management, they're all lost since the bank is struggling to cut on expenses. - There was "no budget" this year and no money for education, self-development, supplies, etc.

It's just OK

Pros

Peers are great, there is no "job politics". Division management cares about staff, Ray Barbone & Doreen Pleffner are great leaders. Very organized division and proactively deals with issues.

Cons

Corporate management has no clue what the staff in the trenches is feeling. Compensation is barely adequate, no merit increases and yearly review increase is practically nothing as it hardly keeps up with increasing expenses. Division was closed and 1/3 of the staff was laid off in April, as part of business review to cut losses, yet corporate announced several promotions and increases right before we were let go & the company celebrated 10 year anniversary with many events posted on social media, making those of us laid off a month prior feel unwanted & ignored. Maybe reallocation of resources could have saved some jobs. Hardly any room for advancement.
