Pros

Trainings were very good - at least the ones that were given at the corporate level.

Cons

The agents that I worked with were over-all good people but I felt that the management team especially lacked the ethics that I feel are necessary in a good insurance agent. I felt that commissions were often pushed by management even when a product was not suitable for a client's needs.

Pros

I was fairly satisfied with the training that Bankers offered. You have to go to a two day class so that you can take the test to get your insurance license (you have to pay for it). Then they send you to a week long orientation about how to interact with potential clients and anything else you would need to know about the job. I was also given a mentor who would go with me into the field and help me develop my skills, very helpful.

Cons

Besides the training, there was not much that I was impressed with. I felt that the company did not have a care in the world for their employees. They wanted their sales agents to make the company money, while at the same time not investing anything into the agents. The company did not reimburse us for the cost of getting our license, taking classes, or even provide lunch at the training. Two days a week you are cold calling for the entire day, this is how agents are supposed to get their clients. I don't have a problem with this, but during the interview they will tell you that you don't have to cold call. The branch I was at had such a high turnover rate that they hired at least a handful of people every month. Sales is a tough job, but Bankers Life and Casualty makes it near impossible.
