Pros

Banner isn't too big of a bank, so you can actually interact with folks who matter in the organization. Very experienced, intelligent people running the bank. The bank is more on the conservative side, which is part of the reason we made it through the downturn.

Cons

It seems difficult to advance in your career. Several retired people were brought back in to help after the recession in 08. Until these folks retire, upward movement has been minimal. There are few younger employees to take over once the big wave of retirement happens. However, my biggest complaint about working here is how many people sit around, gossip, and don't actually work. That old 80/20 rule holds true in this bank.

Pros

Very family oriented, if you have to for family, they will work with you. They want to keep you, and have the use of you, so they work with you.

Cons

They need to work on their technology. I feel like I've taken a step backward. They must save quite a bit of money from not upgrading, but eventually, that much hands on still is going to bite them.

Pros

Focus on customer service, relatively small organization so it is easier to get to know others in different departments/locations

Cons

The pace of the company is extremely slow, the bank lacks a strong bench (when the older bankers , which there are many of them, retire, there wouldn't be a group of younger bankers inheriting the portfolio thus ensuring a continuity of business operations), very simple products offered so your job will get boring fast, lack of formal training program. In summary, the bank feels like it is an ancient dinosaur that is about to die. Not a great place for someone young and ambitious.
