Pros

Company is splitting into two: Baxter & Baxalta. Baxalta is the high risk/high reward biotech focusing on oncology & hematology. Lots of potential upside from a growth perspective. New HQ just north of Deerfield

Cons

Marketing division is way too top-heavy. Even in the new structure, I have 7 level of management to the CEO. Tons of chiefs and few worker bees leads to a great deal of extra work and managing up. Work load on both launch & in-line brands is extreme, and weekend work is the norm. Buyer beware: you may accelerate your career but at a personal price.

Pros

It had a promising future until 2020, when it decided to acquire the Hillrom company and overpaid heavily, marking the beginning of the demise of the Baxter we once knew. Nothing positive to say after 2021

Cons

Horrible culture, fear tactics, silent treatments, whatever you say puts you on the "RIF" list, and your days are counted - pretty much a very toxic environment to work in. They are hiring primarily from India and Mexico. Because of a lack of talent (because the US is too costly), they allow both location employees to change their positions and teams at a simple "ask" - something US employees do not have an option of. Instead, US employees are kept until the RIF, and all the time is used to suck all the knowledge and install numerous bodies from India and Mexico to replace US resources. Naturally, talent and quality of work are not even comparable, but no one cares. Senior leadership only cares about what looks good on paper.

Pros

Sometimes you work with cool people in your role, including the customers you deal with.

Cons

The management will constantly belittle you and turn things into it being your fault or not an issue whenever you bring up anything that is going wrong, or if you tell them you need help. I've had a manager tell me that my disability has caused my coworkers to struggle with their workload, and that if I want any sort of training on the equipment we work on to further my career I need to come in on my time off between shifts to shadow more experienced technicians, so sleep and any sort of work-life balance is against the companies policy. Speaking of which, if you do not have any PTO in your bank (PTO and Sick Time is grouped into one lump sum), you are not allowed to call out sick for any reason or take any time off. They control when you take time off and you are punished for doing so by their metrics that measure your productivity that still take into account your time off instead of excluding that time from the calculations.
