Pros

- Flexible schedule - Talented coworkers - Basic benefits - Depending on the department, enjoyable work. - If you're younger and new to the full-time workforce, this might be a good place to get a first taste of corporate life. Just know that there are other companies with higher standards and better environments.

Cons

- Everything is outdated - equipment, ideas, main office design. - Toxic environment - Starting with people in upper management positions. No accountability for unseemly behavior and comments. - Corporate office location - The building is in an industrial, suburban area on the outskirts of Bradenton, with not much nearby. You can drive to places for lunch, but if you've worked in a walkable city, this is not that. - High turnover - constant retraining, largely because of low pay - people get better offers and leave. - Low pay - if you're used to giving 110% and being fairly rewarded for it, this is not the place for you. There are no monetary bonuses, just very small annual pay increases. You're lucky to get a dollar. - General workforce challenges - It seems Bealls struggles to find and retain quality talent, due to the factors above.

Pros

Parking was close to the building.

Cons

Many people have worked there between 20-40 years. They need to take a field trip to other companies and see how things have changed since the 1980s. Extremely outdated software from the 1980s and 90s being used. Making the job inefficient. Processes are very old and cumbersome. It’s a corporate straitjacket. Boss was still using Outlook “read receipt” feature on EVERY email she sent.

Pros. You get to be around pretty stuff and if you're retired you can get a tiny supplemental income where there isn't too much physical labor? I guess

The hiring process is heinous, from the very start it was clear that there was absolutely no communication between management and corporate. It took weeks to onboard me. Something I've never had take more than a few days at any other job I've had. There hiring methods, training process, and process for retaining employees and handling situations is ARCHAIC. Who even operates a company in such an antiquated manner? To start off I'd say Bealls is clearly guilty of discriminatory hiring practices that border unethical. I worked at Bealls for 3 weeks before a disorderly conduct charge I had was brought up. I was asked to explain it. Which I did. I then was asked by this company for a POLICE REPORT regarding this charge. When I applied it said it was a full-time position. It was then dropped to part time during my hiring process and by the time I started working there it was decided that I got one day a week, maybe two if it took that long to put the truck away. At minimum wage. I was expected to provide a police report to retain a 1 day a week minimum wage job. I declined and said I'd rather find employment elsewhere. I turned down other jobs for this job. I spent almost an entire month working here being promised more hours, only for them to expect me to jump through hoops to just keep the job. At one point when I started another employee was being fired. Living in a small town we all know each other. Someone who didn't like this woman came in and proceeded to verbally abuse and harass her for his entire stay. As someone who has spent most my work life in restaurants. This is beyond unacceptable. Any waitress in the world would have been allowed to remove this man from the vicinity or have a manager do so. This company FORCES it's employees to silently endure any form of verbal or sexual harassment we encounter and are expected to say nothing but "can we help you with anything else?" Or some other polite sales oriented response even in the face of blatant pure workplace harassment at the hands of customers. It's managements and corporates job to protect it's employees not force them to endure abuse to retain customers. This woman was fired for refusing to silently endure verbal harassment from a customer. I brought up this disgraceful conduct to corporate when I emailed them back that I would happily be declining their offer to stay with the company after jumping through their hoops. This company has horrifically outdated technology, standards, and completely unethical hiring / firing practices. What's more all the employees who remain there also lament at the lack of liveable wage provided by this company. This company doesn't deserve it's employees or it's customers. We will be running a feature on them for our segment regarding business who specialize in harboring unsafe work environments for women. I hope this company changes it's ways because I will be making a big deal out of this. I can handle what happened to me. But the fact that this place actively promotes an environment where men feel free to harass their female employees because we are strictly forbidden from protecting ourselves is DISGUSTING. Absolutely should not be tolerated in this day and age and I hope one day this company faces lawsuits for their clearly unethical and unsafe workplace environment..or at least change how they are doing things I was a loyal customer for 10 years before this. I will never support this store again
