Decent Loss Prevention gig

Pros

I'm pretty much left alone as long as I handle my business. Like anywhere else, if you demonstrate competency, initiative, and responsibility you can write your own ticket with a little time.

Cons

LP gets pushed to the backburner a lot compared to other departments. No communication between support positions such as ops and visual to LP, so signage gets thrown up that blocks cameras and usually there's no resolution. Employees not held accountable for their actions.

Pros

Great presence in the community, fun workplace at the corporate office, very dedicated to community service initiatives, CEO and other power players are very visible/approachable.

Cons

Pay is significantly low compared to others in the industry, only buyers and planners get credit for achievements, moving up is a joke--you can only go through the Executive Trainee program which takes ~15 people once a year. The work is completely boring and mindless for entry-level employees.

First Job

Pros

It's a great place to work at if it's your first job especially! It really teaches you how to work at a fast pace, work as part of a team, and looks great on your resume. I'm also a full time student so they do well with working around my school hours. I was first hired on as a seasonal associate but was hired on as a permanent part-time employee. It really depends on what department you are assigned to that decides how much of a workload you will recieve. For example, womens is probably the most difficult. The starting pay was also over min. wage.

Cons

The pay raises aren't that spectacular and you usually are given duties that the managers were supposed to do.
