Cons
For not even making commission Belk has a pretty poor setup. You have to compete with the same people you're told to help. People are cut-throat, especially when they're long-term employees because Belk does biannual reviews and adjusts pay according to your sales. Not to mention that many of the customers are thieves or rude to the employees. The scheduling was horrendous: closing one night and opening the next morning, not being able to take off work on holidays or otherwise, working every Sunday or every weekend day. Part-time employees were given the better deal with scheduling. Convincing people to get the charge card was another issue. We had to be persistent to make them sign up even when the customers would never be approved. I counted down the days until I left.
