No matter how much work a person does on the floor, if you do not get your sales goal, you get a pay decrease. I have worked for many years withing retail and heave NEVER, EVER, had to worry that my pay would decrease. Maybe NOT getting a raise but never getting money taken away from me. When you earn something, you should be able to keep it. The pay scale, just because maybe some people got raises, gets "tweeked" so that the next review you end up be ing short and not getting a raise, and then the following review you end up getting a pay decrease. The fact that this company is privately owned, any profits go right into the Belk's pockets. No shareholders to concern with. When is Time Belk going to be "rich enough".
There are people who have worked there many many years and are making less money now than they did when they started. How in any kind of a society does that keep morale up and make an associate want to work hard...? It doesn't!!! The store manager is also one of the most moody people I have ever known, very unappraochable and always seems so aloof. It's not a comfortable situatuion when supposedly there is an open door policy but when you go through the door you are made to feel insignificant by him. I sure hope that the Belk higher ups look at this because reading the other reviews just confirms the way I felt and the way it is within this company. They are money hungry and really don't appreciate all their great workers. One day they will be stuck with the usual " do nothngs" who just want to stand behind a register and ring sales so they can make more money, not really "do the right thing" . The ASM will end u getting stuck with doing all the floor work, which they all deserve because they barely do anything anyway...
