Pros

working with other associates.....customers,

Cons

I have worked for Belk for some time now. I think a Monkey could operate the store and there would be a substantial improvement. Employee morale is horrible. The Managers, not all, are being shipped in from other companies and have not a clue what they are doing. The company is going down faster than the Titanic. The type of merchandise is simply low quality. Seconds at best. You would have to sell your kidney in order to pay for their ridiculous health plan that covers nothing...High deductible. God Help you. This is my formed opinion. In no way has there been a monkey used in order to back up my opinion.

Poor management, unfair pay

Pros

20% off discount and the occasional double discount (20% off, plus an additional 20% off)

Cons

Poor management, corrupt, not confidential, unfair pay, strict attendance policy Although the 20% off employee discount and occasional double discount days (20% off, plus an additional 20% off) are appealing, it does not make up for the severe lack of management at Belk of Mount Pleasant. You'll be overworked, underpaid, and get the occasional $.05 or $.10 raise. They'll tell you it is just how retail is. That's a lie. Target and Wal-Mart pay their employees well over $9.50/hr starting. You will not be paid fairly. Management makes up non-approved forms for you to sign and tells you that you HAVE to sign it or abide by their rules. HR is not confidential with ANYTHING you tell them. They will single people out and try to get them to quit by emotionally harassing them instead of firing them. They don't care about their employees' well-being and will dismiss any complaint that you have. Management will also gossip and freely tell other employees private reasons why other employees are off (i.e. "Oh, they had open heart surgery!", "She is having major issues with her husband.", "She's a little weird because of this medication she takes for anxiety. She lost her son in a car accident a while back.") THEY WILL TELL EVERYONE EVERYTHING. They also have a new attendance policy now where you will get point against you if you are sick even WITH a doctor's note. After a certain number of points, you will be terminated immediately. Do yourself a favor... work literally anywhere else. It's not worth it.

Pros

Some decent coworkers, good hours if they like you, double discount day for employees

Cons

Management is horrible, they exercise extreme favoritism, will allow other employees to bully and intimidate you, not a good environment if you're trying to grow.
