Pros

The location is nice, the people (mostly) are hard working, and you can gain some decent experience to make yourself attractive to other employers who will treat you with respect.

Cons

The benefits are crap, the expectations and hours are ridiculous, the upper management tends to be incompetent, and most people are miserable and seem to dread showing up every day. You will be expected to put in long hours for no extra compensation and will rarely receive praise for a job well done, but you will be reprimanded/blamed when things go wrong (which they inevitably do). The open office environment is very distracting and not conducive to being productive.

Pros

This is a good place to start off as an entry level software engineer. It was a great place to solidify what I learned in college. They do offer some nice perks but that only goes so far.

Cons

BF puts a ridiculous amount of workload on its engineers. Our contract say 40 hour weeks, but somehow management expects 45 hours on the timesheet. Management expects us to work late and on weekends for promises made to clients without the input from engineering--all for below average pay and limited opportunities.

Pros

Benefitfocus is a unique, lively and upbeat environment in which innovation is constantly present and thriving. Employee programs and fun events make it a fun place to be.

Cons

The amount of work allocated to each employee is not always a feasible work load. However, when taken in context of the massive growth in which the company is experiencing at this time, this may be seen as a growing pain that will be appropriately resolved with time.
