Pros

- There's usually Free Food around the office. There's also free coffee. - You can drink beer on Fridays. - The break room has a ping-pong table...but not at the time of writing this review. - The benefits are just average. Ironically, they used to be terrible here! - There are a lot of charitable events and games where you can win anything from useless nick-knacks to cash. - The atmosphere is friendly. - Your boss(es) can be great to work with (Although there are some that aren't so great, too).

Cons

- You will be worked like a dog with very little training. - The product is defective and broken. 75% of output files are manual edits. Your system will crash daily, even after work. - Pay is insultingly low. For the amount of hours you will put in, the salary ends up being LESS than minimum wage. Expect a minimum of 50 hours per week. - You will be asked to lie to other departments and clients, proving the "Smoke and Mirrors" campaign. - There are no business practices in place for an SaaS model (basically a subscription model). There is only scrambling and manual edits until clients and carriers accept what is given to them. - Senior Management is ineffectual. The answer to an increase in clients is to hire one hundred people but no servers. The additional users have all but crippled system resources during the busiest time of year. When things go wrong, Management will demand volunteers from other departments, which further strain resources. Scaling is a huge issue. - Despite the CEO trying to get departments to communicate more, there is miscommunication all over. Sales will promise things that the coding cannot achieve. Senior Management only has a basic idea of what their departments actually do.

Better Pay attention to your Customers,....or you will have none

Pros

Dynamic market and space to be in; Cloud software and healthcare. The company has a great marketing/PR engine around their culture and their products which has created a lot of buzz in the marketplace the last couple years. They have also grown very quickly and have accumulated some great "logo" customers.

Cons

They focus so heavily on growth with new sales that they have not been able to keep up with supporting customers. Implementation teams and customer service teams are REALLY struggling. Due to the rapid growth, all the seasoned folks have been promoted and they have hired a lot of young, less experienced people to back fill. Because of the long hours and grinding work, many of these people leave shortly thereafter, or the work completed is sub-par requiring re-work which just perpetuates the cycle of the hole they are digging for themselves. in a SaaS business you MUST keep the customers that you sell as it's a subscription model. I know many of the new customers that Benefitfocus has signed up in the last year are unhappy. If they don't address this problem quickly I don't believe the company will recover because the "word on the street" will be out. In a SaaS model customers don't become profitable until about years 2-3 and Benefitfocus contracts are only 12 months, so they MUST earn the business every year. At the rate they are going and the amount of competition out there, their renewal rate will begin to decline if they don't "stop the bleeding".

Pros

Things never stay the same. If you like that, then you will enjoy working here. Culture: overall very positive and young feel to company. Also, associates do work well together on the goal of providing great customer service. Willing to reward those that outperform.

Cons

Growth creates challenges. Associates work many hours to complete tasks. But on the flipside, you can be rewarded with upward mobility. I have heard some people complain about salaries relative to the work load. This is probably true with any small growth company. Patience will be rewarded I believe
