Pros

VERY generous discount at certain times of the year Employees are passionate, but overworked. Some members of senior management are well recognized as industry leaders, lots of opportunity to learn from them. Assistant buyers get great exposure very early on in their careers Great name, very well respected in the industry. Work here for a year, and your options are limitless. Great parties, dinners with designers, access to shows (everyone from PR, marketing, executive assistants attend fashion week shows, parties, and more)

Cons

Zero work life balance. Merchant team works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for pay that is significantly below the competitive going rate for the industry (at all levels). Fiercely competitive, hostile work environment. Managers drive assistants into the ground and spend all day shopping for themselves while expecting Assistant Buyers to work until midnight. Everyone is overworked and higher ups take it out on those below. Non existent training program -- sink or swim environment, you better hope you have the right manager. Doesn't matter if you're a "favorite", pay rate will not change. Archaic technology, reporting systems, Overall, brick and mortar stores are a dying business, sales goals at BG are challenging and completely unrealistic. Offices/bathrooms badly need to be renovated, was often concerned for my health. Lots of employees abuse their discount and buy to merchandise with the full intention of reselling it online.
