Pros

Good compensation commensurate with skillset required for job categories. Geek Squad CIAs slightly underpaid, but training is provided. Field technicians/supervisors/management are compensated well. As with any retail environment, advancement can be rapid depending on the drive of the employee. Good benefits, excellent stock options/401k, tuition reimbursement, EXCELLENT employee discount. In most stores, management is dedicated to coaching and training their subordinates to eventually move up. Every company has personnel that are miscast as management, but on the whole, this is a good place to work with ample opportunities for long term careers for the ENGAGED AND DRIVEN employee. Would recommend it in a heartbeat to a friend.

Cons

It's retail - long hours, often unruly customers, due to the average age group and phase of life of line-level employees [18-24 year old college students], turnover is relatively high in the lower ranks of employees, which leaves store leadership constantly training new employees. Depending on the competency of the manager, this can lead to an inconsistent experience for the customer. Holiday seasons are usually ridiculously busy [Q3 and first part of Q4 - September - January], usually lulls in end of Q4 [Feb-March], resulting in lower hours for part time employees. High stress due to the nature of retail sales environments. Advancement opportunities are plentiful, but require a very strong work ethic and dedication to acquire (which can be seen as a detriment to some and an asset to others - personally, I like the challenge).

Pros

Its a Job, we all need money.

Cons

They praise it being a non-commisioned environment. But the leadership pressures employees, because they need to meet certain metrics for their bonuses. Contradictive business practices, teach employees to identify certain customers in segments to help meet their needs, but promote pushing things they do not need to meet their metircs.

Pros

It is like a family. Sometimes this is a good thing and other times it is a bad thing. It did remind me of High School a little since rumors and stories spread around the store in 2 seconds. Best Buy was a good place for me during High School and in College but now that I am looking to start a family... not so much. The hours as a manager are long and they are all over the place. In most cases you work 10-12 hour shifts 5 - 6 days a week and then your GM works maybe 4.

Cons

Hours are very long and it is really hard to get rid of someone that doesn't do their job.
