Pros

I have been a publisher with BVM for almost 2 years. If you want to work for yourself, not by yourself, have unlimited income potential and enjoy working with a great group of individuals then you have found the right place. Support from head office is amazing!

Cons

There are no cons, period. You get what you put into it. But that is like anything in life. And if you find you struggle, there is support always for you.

Pros

The Japanese have a term - ikigai. If you have found something that you have an aptitude for, enjoy doing, that you are appreciated for, and that is doing good in the world, you have found your ikigai - your reason for being. For me, being a publisher with Best Version Media is more than a job - it is my lifestyle! I love that I am handsomely rewarded for the work that I do, and that as an entrepreneur I have control over my schedule. I love getting feedback from the communities that I work with about how much they appreciate their community magazines. And I love supporting local business. Never before have I felt so connected to the local community. I can honestly say that after only a year and a half, I never anticipated that I would already have 2 magazines and be a market manager to help grow the business model here. The opportunity is as grand as you want to make it.

Cons

If you don't have a value system in line with the company culture, you won't cut it. The job is simple, but not easy. If you aren't comfortable prospecting and making phone calls, then don't even think about it. That's the hardest part of the job for most people (although some publishers hire someone to do this for them once they are established). If you aren't enthusiastic about building local community, then you probably won't love it. If you aren't interested in being the best version of yourself, find something else to do. If you aren't a trustworthy, cooperative person, you will not thrive in this culture.

Pros

This is the only platform I'm aware of that any company can utilize to achieve true branding today. I have been with them about five years. Every success and every failure of this as my business is due to my own performance. Corporate helps with everything they can to help everyone. Sponsors enjoy success from their campaigns that are quite predictable. It is not a quick get rich scheme but an investment in the future of a company like none other. Some of our sponsors become top in the industry within a year or so through often even addressing a rather small portion of the population who represent the circle influence to our communities. I do not consider the areas of distribution as the destination but rather the beginning of word-of-mouth conversation that extends vastly beyond that area. This is one of the fastest growing companies in North America because it works.

Cons

This is not a business for the weak-minded as you have to understand the branding process completely and be able to educate people very quickly about the topic.
